Plot Overview
The epic follows Beowulf, a warrior from Geatland, who travels to Denmark to help King Hrothgar. Hrothgar’s hall is attacked by the monster Grendel, and Beowulf defeats him through strength and courage. Grendel’s mother seeks revenge, but Beowulf tracks her to her lair and defeats her as well. Years later, Beowulf becomes king of the Geats. In old age, he fights a dragon threatening his people. He wins but is mortally wounded, and the poem ends with his death and a somber reflection on leadership and legacy.
