Core Plot Summary
The novel follows Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant Swiss scientist obsessed with unlocking the secret of life. He successfully animates a humanoid creature from stolen body parts, but is horrified by its appearance and abandons it. The creature, rejected by all humans, learns language and empathy in isolation, then seeks revenge on Victor for leaving it to suffer. The story unfolds through a frame narrative, told via letters from Arctic explorer Robert Walton, who rescues Victor during his pursuit of the creature.
