Essay Planning Framework
If you’re writing an essay, start with a clear thesis that ties a theme to the story’s structure. For example: “Kafka uses the protagonist’s physical transformation to expose how capitalist pressures corrode familial bonds.” Use two to three supporting points, such as the family’s financial anxiety, their gradual loss of sympathy, and the protagonist’s own resignation. Be sure to connect each point back to your thesis, and avoid direct quotes by paraphrasing key moments instead.
