The story begins with a dispute between the Greek commander Agamemnon and his greatest warrior, Achilles. This internal conflict causes Achilles to withdraw from battle, leading to heavy losses for the Achaeans. The narrative reaches its climax with the death of Patroclus, which fuels Achilles' return to the battlefield and his ultimate confrontation with the Trojan prince, Hector.
