Core Plot Summary
Set in Corinth, the play follows Medea, a former princess and sorceress, after her husband Jason abandons her to marry Glauce, the daughter of King Creon. Enraged by Jason’s betrayal and facing exile with her two young sons, Medea plots a brutal revenge. She secures a reprieve from exile, then manipulates Glauce and Creon into accepting a cursed gift that kills them. To inflict the ultimate pain on Jason, she murders their sons before fleeing Corinth in a divine chariot. The play ends with Jason left broken and alone, facing the consequences of his actions.
