Plot Overview
The play is set in Verona, where two noble families, the Montagues and Capulets, are locked in a long-standing feud. Romeo Montague meets Juliet Capulet, and they fall in love despite the conflict between their families. With help from Friar Laurence, they secretly marry, hoping their union will bring peace. Tensions rise after a street fight leads to Mercutio’s death and Romeo’s banishment. A plan to reunite the lovers fails due to miscommunication. Believing Juliet is dead, Romeo takes his life, and Juliet awakens to find him gone and does the same. Their deaths finally force the families to end the feud.
