Plot Overview
The novel is set on the Yorkshire moors and told through layered narration. It follows the intense relationship between Heathcliff, an orphan raised at Wuthering Heights, and Catherine Earnshaw. After Catherine chooses to marry Edgar Linton for social security, Heathcliff leaves, later returning wealthy and determined to take revenge on those he believes wronged him. His actions damage two families across a generation. The story eventually shifts to the younger characters, where the cycle of cruelty begins to ease, suggesting the possibility of reconciliation.
